It's Meet the Teachers Tuesday! Today it's my turn 🙂

1) What is something your students don't know about you?

I auditioned for Laines when I was 17 years old (I did one year of A Levels before going to college) but I didn't have enough money to go, so I raised the money for the first term by holding a local talent competition in my area, raffles at local pubs, writing to companies asking for sponsorship etc etc and I only found out two days before I was due to start that I had enough money to go for ONE term!!! Luckily I then got a scholarship for the rest of the fees, but if I hadn't raised that money I would never have got that chance! Don't give up on your dreams 🙂

2) Describe your perfect day

This may be crazy but I'd love to go back in time for one day and spend it at Laine's dancing all day long. Once you leave college you never ever dance as much as you did there again.

3) Favourite Quote

My favourite quote is 'Why Walk when you can dance?'

4) Favourite Movie

Sorry it's a bit cliche but Dirty Dancing of course!

5) Most unusual thing in your handbag

It's not that unusual for anyone with small children but there's always nappies, wet wipes and a childs water bottle in my handbag! The one thing that never seems to be there is my purse! Isla takes it out and plays with it, and when I come to pay for things it's not there- embarrassing!!!

6) Favourite Dance Style

If you'd asked me this at Laines I would have said Street dance, but now I'd have to say Ballet. Ballet is the basis of all dance, and I can't stress how important it is for anyone wanting to improve in any form of dance. The technique of ballet is, in my opinion, the hardest dance technique to master!

7) How old were you when you started?

I started when I was 3 years old. At around 12 years old I wanted to give up (I think I just wanted to socialise with my friends to be honest!!) My dance teacher said to my Mum, 'Let her give up, she'll be back'..... and she was right! I had one term off and was begging Mum to take me back 🙂
